Hello Goddesses,

I am just back from visiting family and friends in India where we had a fabulous time reconnecting as family and sharing our favorite childhood memories as well as making some new ones! During my time in the east I also relaxed in Thailand, soaking up the gorgeous weather and amazing culture. Thai food, thai beaches, and thai beauty is unbeatable!! Being able to recharge and regenerate myself for the holidays in the tropical atmosphere was just what the doctor ordered.

Since returning, I have been sharing my new secrets with everyone I meet. One of my favorite beauty secrets, straight from the beaches of Thailand, will help you lovelies get the same sparkling skin in the cold winter months as the beauties that reside in the warm depths of Thailand year round! I am always stressing the benefits of coconut oil for your hair, but here's a tropical coconut treat for your body!

Thai Tropical Body Polish
1/2 cup of ground rice
1/2 cup of coconut milk
1 tablespoon of turmeric
1/2 cup of fresh-grated coconut

Mix ingredients together to form a thick scrub. Using a circular scrubbing motion, apply the mixture all over your body. Rinse and follow with your favorite moisturizer.

Ah, NYC - Fashion Week

Ok, ok...I know it was last week, but it's been an incredibly busy few weeks for Global Goddess Beauty! We have new things swinging and will soon be seeing our products on more store shelves by the end of the year which is very exciting!!

In addition to visiting various fashion shows and the Fashion's Night Out events, I was able to catch up with all of my NYC friends (and many other friends who few in for the week's events!)

One old friend I was able to catch up with, Emmanuelle Chriqui from HBO's Entourage, who told me she loves our lip glosses which she's been wearing since I started doing her makeup. I know all of her secrets of how she stays so gorgeous. Want to get her look? Follow these steps below:

Start by applying a smoothing primer all over your face and follow by dabbing concealer on any blemishes. Then smooth on a foundation that matches your skin tone to even out your complexion.

Highlight areas that are touched by the sun with a glowing bronzer (try our Goddess Glow South Pacific Shimmer) on your cheeks, forehead and the bridge of your nose.

For Emmanuelle's stunning look, it's all about the eyes so play them up with shimmering browns. Apply a light shadow over your entire lid and then accentuate the crease and outer corners with a darker shade.

I've just spent an amazing week in London working with some fabulous people to build beauty kits just for my UK Goddesses. I have always been in love with London and being back has actually gotten me excited for Fall! I know, I know...summer is still in full swing, but now is the time to prepare your wardrobe and beauty collections for the fall months ahead and start easing yourself into those hot new trends.

As a top trend for Fall 09, gray is a must have for every woman's wardrobe. The one trend I saw on EVERYONE in London was gray nails. Have your manicurist paint on a shimmering gray shade, like Essie's Over the Top on your nails for an ultra-hip look. Gray is a color anyone can pull off, plus it goes with all of the bright colors you're still sporting for summer. So do

like the Brits and try those grays on now! The key to gray is to make sure it has some type of light reflection - so on nails use a glossy top coat and on lips replace your lipstick with a sexy lip gloss.

The gray trend also goes for the eyes, but make sure you avoid those matte shades and choose shimmery ones instead. Growing up in Southern California the beach was always calling my name and there wasn't a day in my youth I didn't have a glowing tan which inspired my creation of Goddess Glow.

Tanning is a favorite past time of so many people all over the world. Between hours laying out in the sun, a tanning salon on every corner and the invention of the spray tan booth, there are very few people walking around without that golden, glowing look of the tropics. Now, though, we are constantly reminded of the dangers of tanning indoors, the importance of wearing SPF daily and staying out of the tanning salon to reduce risk.

HEALTHY TANNING TIPS

Want to get a healthy glow without risking your beautiful skin and your health? Try a self tanner - there are many brands and types to choose from and I recommend a liquid spray that can easily be applied and massaged in evenly.

For an all natural fix, you can also try this all natural DIY self tanner Claudia Starkey, founder of Remedix natural skincare in Boston, shared with me. Growing up in Romania, Claudia discovered that boiling the green shells from walnuts created a liquid self-tanning spray.

Save your walnut shells and boil them in water until the liquid turns a deep shade of brown - the more shells you add, the darker the liquid will become. Let the mixture cool, pour it into a clean spray bottle and massage this concoction all over your skin for your very own natural sunless tan!

I'm sure the beach will still be calling your name and using an SPF is highly recommended, but if you want the deepest, bronzed tan from your beach holiday, try carrots! We all love fruit juice in the morning, but for the women in Latin America, pineapple and carrot juice rank as their favorites. Two weeks before these women go to the beach they begin to have a glass of fresh carrot juice every morning. The beta carotene in the carrots gives their tans a spectacular bronzed color.

Carrots are also high in vitamin C which helps to detoxify the liver and can protect the skin from melanoma and more, but be careful because carrots also contain high amounts of vitamin A so you shouldn't drink it every day

Yet, all the products and spa treatments in the world don’t beat the basic things we can do to keep ourselves looking our best.

Sleep

There’s a reason it’s called beauty sleep. Not sleeping enough is a sure fire way to wake up looking like you’re ready for Halloween. But if you can’t catch up on your zzz’s, make sure you have a few tricks up your sleeve.

The most fast-acting cheapest trick is to use a bit of rose water on a cotton ball, and dab it on your eyes.

This is an instant pick me up, smells great, and costs next to nothing! Rose water even works great as a toner, acting as an antibacterial cleaner minus alcohol.

Sun-Exposure

Everyone knows that excessive sun exposure is one of the worst things you can do for your skin, but we all still covet that Hollywood orange (I mean, “golden”) glow. Tanning beds are no better. Neither are chemically saturated self tanning lotions. But turmeric, a dark yellow spice native to India, has been used for centuries by Indian women to provide a natural glow.

Mix half a teaspoon of turmeric with whole milk to get a paste, and leave it on a facial mask for five minutes. After you wash it away, you’ll notice a soft golden glow without the use of chemicals or plastics – and you’ll have done something great for your skin.

Aside from making skin soft and supple, turmeric has immense healing properties including getting rid of acne and discoloration. This mustard colored spice can also be mixed in larger amounts and used anywhere on your body to reveal your inner golden goddess. Best of all, you only need to travel as far as your local grocer to pick it up.

But if you want it at pennies on the dollar, and want to support local mom and pop stores, skip large scale commercial grocers and pay a visit to any Middle Eastern or South Asian supermarket. While you're there, pick up a bottle of rose water too, and save yourself the shipping cost plus the wasted paper and energy of mailing.

Mind and Body

Creating more stress in your life is a fantastic way to invite all kinds of diseases to attack the body. Equally as bad, stress is reflected on you face the minute you experience it.

When you're chronically stressed, the adrenal glands are forced to work overtime and eventually exhaust themselves, inhibiting the immune system and triggering a number of health complications.One of the best stress fighters is exercise – but there’s one problem with a routine trip to the gym. The constant noise of bad gym music and weight stacks falling abruptly is hardly a recipe for de-stressing. Point being, the gym offers an opportunity to train the body, but not the mind.

A great alternative is yoga. These simple stretching exercises have been used by civilizations for over thousands of years and far surpass the manic hustle and bustle of corporate health clubs. A switch to yoga effectively trains both mind and body and keeps you away from wasting money on health clubs, which only deplete resources but are proven to be breeding grounds for illness.

Oxygen

All living things need oxygen, and our skin is no exception. The trick is finding the right way to harness a natural free element that’s already around you.

There are two ways to deliver oxygen to your face. The first is an oxygen facial. For about $500 a treatment, you can get oxygen blasted directly at your face. This is a favorite of Madonna, who loves it so much that she dropped $7,000 to have her own unit at home. Oxygen calms inflammation, treats acne, kills bacteria, drives antioxidants and vitamins into the skin, and makes your skin younger looking by providing oxygen to the skin cells.

The second way revolves around the hype of beauty products that claim to tote O2 in their product. Oxygen is a gas. There is no way to put that into a cream, keep it there, and then have it released when it hits your skin. Even if creams did provide some extra oxygen to the skin, the effects would last only minutes at best.

But cost conscious beauty whizzes have wisened up to the smart cost-effective way to get a similar treatment for far less. Using natural ingredients in your skin care regimen is becoming more and more important as we learn about organic living and sustainable resources. In California, so many people are jumping on the all-natural bandwagon and learning to use natural ingredients in place of their daily products.
