Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! I've been enjoying some much needed r&r and my hunt for more beauty secrets in this tropical paradise. This secret is one I found out of desperation. Before leaving NYC I had the most aggressive manicurist leaving my cuticles in dire need of some TLC. By the time I arrived at the Fairmont Orchid I was holding on to my cuticles to stop the pain and the peeling. Not my idea of sexy nails! The resorts spa was full of great advice and great Hawaiian beauty secrets. Here was my trip and cuticle saver! Kukui oil is a Hawaiian plant high in essential fatty acids that helps promote healthy skin, and is great for strengthening the bond between upper and lower nail plates. So say aloha more flexible nails! Just rub it in once a day and watch your cuticles and nails love you! (I do it every night before bed) P.S. - Kukui-nut oil also can replenish hair’s luster and elasticity. So don’t be afraid to give yourself a well-deserved scalp massage with this nourishing oil! I kept a bottle right by my lounge chair and rubbed my way to fabulous looking hair and nails. Posted By Shalini | Ask Shalini share this: facebook 0 Comments

This is one of those things that we wish could magically disappear. I know, because I suffer from it too! A lot of you want to know how to cover it up without looking like you have 5 lbs of makeup on. It's easy! Instead of using a heavy makeup all over your face, use your finger and spot apply the makeup just in the areas you need a little extra help. I use the 2.5 color in the Complexion Perfection and apply a thin layer of the foundation (left side of compact) all over my face. Then I take my ring finger and use the concealer (right side of compact) and spot apply (pat on don't rub) directly on the areas I need more coverage. I then follow with my i-Divine Eyeshadow in Shambala (yes eyeshadow - the peach is such a great color) and sweep it all over my face to counteract any dark areas. So there you go! Say bye bye to nasty spots!

![]() I'm not a huge fan of the licorice flavor, but the benefits are another story! A lot of you asked why I put it in our Upgrade Face Primer. When interviewing Russian women for my book, they all told me how they loved to tan. So much so, they were constantly dealing with sunburned skin. Their two secrets? Sour cream all over the body to soothe the burn and licorice. These gals swear by the skin brightening and healing affects of licorice. I was so curious that I asked my chemist about it. She's Romanian and said it's their "secret" too. And one of the best ingredients for soothing redness, brightening tired looking skin, fading discoloration and hyper-pigmentation, and healing any skin problems. What better product to put it in than our primer....where beautiful makeup starts! Posted By Shalini | Ask Shalini share this: facebook 0 Comments

My visit to the Eva Scrivo Show on Martha Stewart Radio/Sirius Monday evening was chock full of my favorite tips from Passport To Beauty. Eva and I discussed all the great beauty benefits - inside and out - apple cider vinegar brings. Eva known for her famous "Uncut Haircut " and being the guru on hair gave me a great tip on rinsing hair with vinegar for a great shine (the women in Belgium love this tip). I shared my favorite supermodels secret of two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar every morning to rev up metabolism and give you glowing skin. Here's the recipe for the Apple Cider Vinegar Beauty Elixir: Glass of warm water Juice from 1/2 lemon 2 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar A few drops of Honey Mix and sip your way to beauty! And these girls are global and goddesses! Using my makeup expertise and love for color, I've been helping some of them pick out the paint for their apartments... and their eyeshadow shades! What else to do on a 5 hour flight? Here are the rules of shadow~ Green eyes - Plums and Red based browns look best (try the Arusha Tribal Quad or the Kumoan i-Divine) Blue Eyes - Peach tones, Grays and deep Blues are your shades (Try the Teesta, Batasia or Shambala i-Divine) Brown eyes - Golds, warm browns and jewel tones make your eyes sparkle (try the Eldoret Tribal Quad or Makabari and Batasia i-Divine).
